  • join two equal words, phrases or clauses.

COORDINATING CONJUNCTIONS

  • For, and, nor, but, or, yet, so
  • Remember these as "FANBOYS."
  • can use a comma before the conjunction if necessary when joining clauses

EXAMPLES:

  • Travis and Alan went for a run. (words)
  • We can walk to the store or to the park. (phrase)
  • You can turn your homework in late, but you will not get full credit. (clauses/sentences)

CORRELATIVE CONJUNCTIONS

  • also join elements together.
  • work in partnerships
  • both, and; not only, but also; either, or; whether, or; neither, nor

  • Both Amanda and John will be attending.
  • Let's not only go to the comic store, but let's also go to the candy store.
  • Either you get your work done or you deal with the consequences.
