COMANCHE NATIVE AMERICANS
They belonged to the plains culture.
The Comanches came to Texas in the 1740's
The Comanches ate wild fruits, roots, vegetables, and wild meat.
The Comanches used teepees made of buffalo hide for shelter
Men wore leather belts with breach cloths, as well as moccasins for shoes. Woman wore long deerskin dresses with moccasins for shoes
Post-contact, the Comanches were hunter-gatherers
The Comanches valued horses above any other animals. They believed in both good and bad spirits, and they had their own type of sun dance. Women could not choose who they married. Comanche art was not popular, as they did not have time to work on it. For fun, they would often raid other tribes for horses. A man's wealth was often measured by the size of his horse.
The environment was dry winters and wet summers.

WHY DID THE COMANCHES LIVE IN TEEPEES?
