COLOR

  • is the aspect of art that is caused by the reflection of wavelengths of light.

LOCAL COLOR

  • is the color it appears to be in white daylight.

ATMOSPHERIC COLOR

  • is used to create the impression of a specific time of day or specific weather conditions.

ARBITRARY COLOR

  • is used by the artist for purely emotional or aesthetic reasons and is not related to the local color of the object.

COLOR WHEEL

  • is organized to show the theoretical relationship between hues.

PRIMARY HUES

  • are the hues from which all other hues are mixed.

SECONDARY HUES

  • can be made by mixing equal amounts of two primary hues.

INTERMEDIATE HUES
