Slide Notes

Collaboration with myself and Mrs. Schlosser as we led the research portion of the Space IA experience. Prior to the research, we had students write about what they knew and what they wondered about Space. We used this to inform our research lessons, as we knew where to best direct students to research.

Collaboration and Assessment

PRESENTATION OUTLINE

Collaboration/ Formative Assessment

sticky notes as formative assessment in IA lesson
Collaboration with myself and Mrs. Schlosser as we led the research portion of the Space IA experience. Prior to the research, we had students write about what they knew and what they wondered about Space. We used this to inform our research lessons, as we knew where to best direct students to research.

Phys Ed Collaboration

Bringing Space to CES
Mr. Levine and I worked on many projects thus far including:
- Orienteering as it related to "Henry and Mudge and the Starry Night
- A rock wall, parachute and tunnel experience to enhance the Reading Street story " Ants"
- A Space experience where we used math to determine scale and location of planets - the sun was located at the top of the playscape and other planets and stars oribited around "her".

formative assessment

Students utilize personal whiteboards for fast start of lesson assessments
Students use personal white boards for quick formative assessments prior to lesson. This informs my teaching and differentiated grouping throughout the lesson and workshop times.

Space Collaboration

Mrs. Goodie shared a perspective lesson with us as part of a Space lesson
Mrs. Goodie and I collaborated to bring art into our classroom. She taught the students about perspective - what space looks like from Earth and what Earth looks like from space. This lesson in perspective has also become an important element in our reading as we think about perspective.

Vertical Team Collaboration

Grade 2 students sharing their teaching books with first grade students
Our class shared our "Teaching Books" with first graders in Mrs. Cannata's Class. Students were thrilled to share their work and first graders provided students with great feedback.
