TROPICAL HUMID

  • Located along the Earth's Equator in places like South America, parts of Africa, and Southeast Asia
  • Warm and Rainy
  • Yearly Precipitation: 65-450 inches
  • Temperature Range During the Day: 90-95 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Temperature Range At Night: 65-70 degrees Fahrenheit

VEGETATION

In the Tropical Humid climate, there is lots of vegetation like tall trees, leafy plants, shrubs, etc.

ARID

  • Located along the 30 degree latitude line
  • Dry, sunny, and hot desert like climate
  • Day temperatures can range from 110-115 degrees Fahrenheit
  • At night temperatures drop to about 60-65 degrees
  • During the winter season, temperatures tend to be lower; days being around 80 degrees Fahrenheit and nights down in the 45 degree area

ANIMAL LIFE AND VEGETATION

The animals and plants in the Arid Climate must be able to withstand little rain, scorching temperatures, and rocky landscape. Because of this, there are a lot of reptiles and other creatures that are able to go without much water. The vegetation in this area tends to be very scarce; with lots of cacti, shrubs, and other native plants.

HUMID SUBTROPICAL

(MIDDLE LATITUDE CLIMATE)

HUMID SUBTROPICAL

  • Located in middle latitudes, normally on the east coast of continents
  • Very humid in both summers and winters
  • Lots of precipitation yearly (averages about 40 inches of rain)
  • Hurricane and typhoon area
  • Daily temperatures, in the summer, range anywhere from 75-90 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Winter temperatures drop to between 45-50 degrees

VEGETATION

The Humid Subtropical Climate vegetation normally consists of mixed forests. There are both deciduous AND coniferous forests in this area.

MARINE WEST COAST

  • Located along the west coasts in upper/middle latitudes (like in Europe, North America, etc.)
  • Tend to have mild summers and winters
  • Storms and rain
  • The hottest months tend to have temperatures in the 60s and 70s (Fahrenheit)
  • The coldest months have an average temperature above freezing

VEGETATION

The vegetation in this region consists of lots of evergreen forests and other conifers.

TUNDRA

(HIGH LATITUDE CLIMATE)

TUNDRA

  • Located on the coasts of high latitude areas of North America, Europe, and Asia
  • Cold year round, but colder during the long winters
  • Low precipitation (average rainfall: 5-15 inches)
  • The average temperature of the warmest month is less than 50 degrees Fahrenheit
  • And the coldest month's average temperature is below 0

VEGETATION

Tundra vegetation includes a wide variety of permafrost bogs, shrubs, lichen, and moss.

HIGHLAND

HIGHLAND

  • Very mountainous regions located on areas on 5 of the 7 continents
  • Temperatures vary drastically
  • Precipitation also varies
  • (Depends a lot on the elevation of the mountains and prevailing winds)

Vegetation

Vegetation in the Highland Region varies a lot; from forest to tundra (again depending on elevation)
