How great of a leader was she?

CLEOPATRA WAS A GREAT LEADER BECAUSE-

  • She took on the Egyptian leadership role at the age of eighteen
  • She was extremely intelligent
  • She ruled her country with grace and dignity

WHY DID SHE BECOME LEADER AT THAT AGE?

  • Her father died when she reached the age of eighteen at 51 bc
  • When he died he left the throne to cleopatra and her ten year old brother Ptolemy XIII
  • They most likely married as it was the tradition at the time
  • Soon after receiving the throne, Cleopatras brother dethroned and exiled her
  • She fled to roman territory where she met and fell in love with Julius Caesar

LEADERSHIP AGE CONTINUED

  • She and Caesar had a son named caesarion
  • They decided to join forces to take back the throne that was rightfully Cleopatras
  • At the age of 48 Cleopatra succeeded in taking back the throne and defeating her brother
  • Her brother drowned in the Nile while trying to escape
  • In taking back the throne, she saved her country that was wrought with poverty and civil wars

HOW WAS SHE INTELLIGANT?

  • She knew at least eight other languages other than her own
  • She was a skilled diplomat and negotiator
  • She was a great politician
  • She knew to bond with her people to gain their respect
  • She was taught with the finest tutors in the land

CLEOPATRAS INTELEGANCE CONTINUED

  • She was knowledgeable about her heritage
  • She knew to have many alliances such as with Julius Caesar
  • She was an author who wrote about medical treatments
  • She knew how to use her charm to influence other men's decisions

HOW DID SHE RULE WITH GRACE AND DIGNITY?

  • She knew to talk with her people often to create support
  • She treated her servants with kindness and respect
  • Everything she did was in the best interest of the safety of her people
  • She would often go out to visit and bond with her people to create trust
  • She valued her countries well being over her brother who just desired money

CLEOPATRAS GRACE CONTINUED

  • She was a brilliant politician and ruler
  • She never revealed her plans so she was rarely defeated in battle
  • When defeated by the Romans she took away some of their victory by committing suicide in a symbolic way

  • She was extremely intelligent
  • Saved her country when it was wrought with poverty and civil war
  • Always had her countries best interest in mind when making decisions
  • Had enough responsibility to rule an entire country at the age of 18
