Childhood

  • She was encouraged by her parent to study piano
  • She studied piano from age 5 and by 1835 was considered a child prodigy
  • Her father used the methods in his own book (weick’s piano education for a delicate touch and a singing sound) to teach Clara
  • She had to practice 2 hours a day as a kid
  • Her father planned out Clara’s whole life at a very early age

  • Her mother remaried to Barigel
  • Her parents divorced in 1835
  • Her mother’s name was marie

SCHOOLING

  • Her father taught her music starting at a young age
  • She learned piano, teaching, and composing
  • She studied at Leipzig university

  • She grew up in Leipzig, Germany
  • Most of her life she spent in berlin
  • She moved to Frankfort and died there

  • In 1840 she married the famous composer Robert Schumann
