  • Production 470 million (union alone)
  • Commonly used small arm. Load quickly. Cheap. Mass produced easy.
  • Slow speed. (Compared to a .22 caliber rifle)
  • Catastrophic injuries to bones

SPENCER REPEATING RIFLE

  • $40 (rifle) $25 (carbine)
  • 56/56" rim fire cartridge. 100000+ purchased union
  • Reliable in combat. Easier made and cheaper.
  • Limited range due to small cartridge power charge.Ammunition difficult
  • John Wilkes booth armed with one when captured and killed.

  • Short of metals. Their was no telegraph in White House.
