SLAVERY !!!

  • Slavery arrived in north america in 17 - 18 century .
  • Both Virginia and Mississippi had Excess Of 400,000 Slaves .
  • John Brown was a white American abolitionist who believed armed insurrection was the only way to overthrow the institution of slavery in the United State.
  • This is part of the civil war because the slave people did have there rights .
  • When people want to help the slaves its called abolitionist.

THE ELECTION OF 1860

  • It was the year that Lincoln was elected for president.
  • these issues broke the Democratic Party into Northern and Southern factions
  • Southern fears that the Republicans would abolish slavery reached a new peak.

JOHN BROWN

  • John brown had war to stop slavery .
  • South were very mad and the south wanted to kill J.B .
  • Brown's followers also killed five slavery supporters at Pottawatomie.

THE ABOLITIONISM MOVEMENT

  • even many people among the abolitionists did not believe the two races were equal.
  • The whites thought that black were different then white they aren't just different color .
  • These publications argued against slavery as a social and moral evil and often used examples of African American writings and other achievements to demonstrate that Africans and their descendents were as capable of learning as were Europeans and their descendents in America, given the freedom to do so.
