1. Circumcision
Circumcision is the medical practice on which a young jewish boy goes through at the age of eight days old.
2. Bar-Mitzvah
A Bar-Mitzvah is where a boy around the age of 12 is considered a man and has to read the Torah aloud
Young Jewish boys start there education at the age of five. They leant the basics like reading and writing. At the age of 10 boys would start learning the Jewish law. Formal education was completed at the age of 18. The Jewish emphasised leaning history, law and ethics. They studied in the synagogue, they were taught the law of the Torah. At the age of 13 Jewish boys could start work for their father.
They were expected to learn the basics in life. for example, cooking, cleaning, taking care of the family, ect.... young girls started learning these techniques around the age of 13 and they were expected to start doing these jobs around the house everyday by the age of 13 & a half
Jewish Initiation marks a person’s entry into God’s Covenant with Abraham and membership of God’s Chosen people. The two important stages of male Initiation in the Jewish tradition are circumcision and Bar Mitzvah.
