Child Labour is employing children under a certain age-limit affecting them mentally and physically. It also interrupts their education.

In early times, and even now, children are made to work because their family is poor and need money for their survival. The larger the number of workers in the family, the more amount of money they earn. Another reason is that there is a lack of schools.

During Industrial Revolution, even four-year-olds were forced to work in production factories which was sometimes very dangerous. Child labour also exists in coal mines where the children could crawl the narrow tunnels but the adults could not.

As per UNICEF, because India has such a large population, it has the highest number of child labourers. Also, the Sub-Saharan African countries have the highest percentage of child labourers. Child labour mostly happens in commercial agriculture, fishing, manufacturing, mining, domestic services, job of soldiers, construction and many times, also drug trading.

The poor people still don't have any choice and want their kids to do labour and earn money. But yes, there are some people, organisations, schools, NGOs, writers and poets who want every child to be educated.

I recently read a poem, The Chimney Sweeper, written by William Blake, which also talked about child labour. The poem talked about some young boys who were also child labourers. They used to sweep chimneys. They really didn't like it. Even they wanted to study and enjoy their childhood. But still, they had to work. But at the same time, they also had a hope, that someday, they would be free from those dark coffin-like-chimneys, and would have a bright future.

So friends, even we are children. We get proper education. We never have to do labour. But there are some children, who don't get education; they are forced to work. So, let's all get united and fight against this crime. SAY NO TO CHILD LABOUR...

Thank You...
