WHY are we doing?

  • Students will have the opportunity to develop respect and responsibility for a living thing
  • Throughout the hatching process students will be able to ask questions and make predictions
  • Giving students real life experiences helps students relate to the science curriculum
  • Through exploration students will be more inclined to read and write about living things
  • Having a class pet helps to create a caring classroom community

SCIENCE EXPECTATIONS

  • Living things take in food to create energy, make waste and reproduce
  • Living things have basic needs that are met by the environment
