• The Chernobyl Nuclear Plant exploded in Russia
• Many people were evacuated from their homes, never to go back
• The area is still toxic to humans, and is pretty much abandoned
• There are still people dying from the radiation today

MONETARY DAMAGE

• Many towns were evacuated
• The poor sick people in those towns still needed treatment
• Troops were used to stop the chemicals from spreading
• The entire program was a waste of money
