PRESENTATION OUTLINE
R is for rumble
Socs and greasers call their big gang fights rumbles. The night of the rumble was a terrible fight. PonyBoy was put in the hospital with damage to his head. The greasers won and the Socs ran away from the fight.
S for Socs
Socs were gangs with lots of money. They mugged greasers and had parties for fun. The Socs and greasers hated each other, but in the book The Outsiders PonyBoy began to realize that Socs are no different from greasers.
T is for tug o' war
Soda felt like he was the middleman of a tug o' war with Darry and PonyBoy. Darry and PonyBoy were fighting more than normal and trying to get soda to pick sides. Soda had his own problems and his brothers trying to get him to pick sides made him very upset.
U is for university
Darry was going to go to a university, but had to stay home to take care of soda and PonyBoy. Darry really wants PonyBoy to go to a university. He said PonyBoy has good enough grades and good athletic skills which, both, old land him a scholarship.
V is for vague
After the rumble PonyBoys mind was very vague. He thought he killed Bob and was trying to blame himself. He was also putting himself in denial about Johnny's death.
W is for white trash
Socs called greasers white trash. When Bob, randy and their friends were jumping Johnny and PonyBoy, Bob called them white trash with long hair. Socs called greasers white trash because of the way they dressed and oiled their hair.
X is for Xanadu
Xanadu is a beautiful place. Cherry and PonyBoy think sunsets are beautiful and dig them a lot. They think staying in touch with the beauty in the world is important, it helps keep the good, good.
Y is for yearn
PonyBoy strongly yearned Johnny. After Johnny passed away, PonyBoy was hurt badly. He blamed himself for killing Bob and wished Johnny was back with him.
Z is for zany
Two - bit Matthews characteristic is zany. He is the comedian of the gang. He's always getting people to smile.
