He spread greek culture by establishing many cities; he conquered many lands

Macedonian King; he hired Aristotle to tutor his son, Alexander.

Assassination-
The murder of a public; figure usually for political reasons

Assimilated-
absorbed

Alexandria-
city in Egypt located on the sea lanes between Europe and Asia.

Pythagoras-
created the "Pythagorean theorem"

Heliocentric-
sun-centered, showed that the earth was round and accurately calculated its circumference

Archimedes-
the most famous Hellenistic scientist; he applied principles of physics to make practical inventions

Hippocrates- greek physician; studied the causes of illnesses and looked for cures
