  • Individual political and economic freedom
  • Declaration of the Rights of Man reflected this philosophy

  • Overthrow of government
  • The French Revolution altered peoples ideas of society

NATIONALISM

  • Pride to one's nation, or devotion
  • It was spread as the army overran much of Europe

  • Government according to fundamental laws and principles
  • Meiji looked to this to unify their country

CONCESSION

  • Economic privilege granted to a foreign power
  • Japan extracted economic concessions from china

CAPITAL

  • Wealth in the form if money
  • Resources that are used to produce goods
  • Trade in Britain infused the economy with capital

CAPITALISM

  • System in which all resources are privately owned
  • Markets decide how the resources are distributed
  • The Industrial Revolution lead to capitalism

  • Governments owns the resources
  • Distributes them in a way that meets social needs
  • People believed that the wealth earned by the revolution should be shared

IMPERIALISM

  • State takes political and economic control of areas beyond its borders
  • Roman, Athenian, ottoman, Gupta, and Han practiced this

I think the most important revolution was the Industrial Revolution. It was the transition to new manufacturing processes. Instead of using your hands for processing, machines were invented. Every aspect of life was influenced in some way. The population grew, as well as the average income.
