CHANGE

in St. Paul's Hospital Emergency Department

We are fourth year nursing students at Douglas College BsN Program.

Our goal this semester has been to instil a change while collaborating with a health organization.

We were given the task of identifying barriers to the organization and safety of patients belongings and valuables.

Over the last two months

  • Created a needs assessment.
  • Collaborated with various staff members.
  • Analyzed responses in needs assessment, incorporated data in our interventions.
  • The solutions and recommended interventions to create a streamline process.

A survey was distributed to all ER nursing staff to help us in identifying the barriers in the process of keeping patients' belongings safe.

#2
Moved the location of patient identifications labels.

#3
Implemented a safe for secure storage of trauma and acute patients' valuables.
