• The smallest unit of living matter that can carry out the basic processes of life.

VACUOLE

• A cell structure used for storage.

CYTOPLASM

• The gel-like substance that fills a cell.

CHLOROPLAST

• Green structures inside plant cell that turn sunlight into food.

CALL WALL

• An additional layer around the outside of plant cell.

MITOCHONDRIA

• Structures within a cell that break down food and turn it into energy.

NUCLEUS

• An object positioned at the center ; in cells, the structure that controls all activity within a cell.

CELL MEMBRANE

• The layer around the outside of the cell.

ORGANISM

• An individual living thing.

UNICELLULAR

• Made up of only one cell.

MULTICELLULAR

• Made up of more than one cell.

TISSUE

• A group of similar cells that work together to do the same job.

ORGAN

• A group of tissues that work together to perform a specific bodily function.

ORGAN SYSTEM

• A group of organs that work together to perform a specific bodily function.
