WHAT IS THE INSTABILITY?

WHAT IS DEVOLUTION?

  • Central government gives power to other regional governments.
  • Ex. UK split its powers and allocated powers to Scotland, N Ireland, and Wales.
  • New regional governments are created, this is not a law or rule.
  • Central government can implement or take away the powers at anytime.
  • Sometimes, powers cannot be taken away because they do not want to give up their freedom.

WHAT IS A CENTRIPETAL FORCE?

  • Pulls or attracts objects inward
  • Forces unify people in an area

WHAT IS A CENTRIFUGAL FORCE?

  • Pull or attract objects outward
  • Repel people from each other in an area and spreads them apart
  • Ex. Merry-go-round, you are being pulled away from the center
  • That is a centrifugal force acting on you.

DEVOLUTION VS CENTRIFUGAL FORCE

  • Devolution is a response to centrifugal forces
  • Government spreads out powers after forces try to pull away from the center
  • Devolution is an action after forces act on a subject
  • No unity or unifying force, there is a pull outward

HOW ARE STATELESS GROUPS CREATED?

  • Form of government action or choice, punish people by taking away citizenship
  • Leaving them with no aid, and thus stateless, ex. Adolf Hitler took away citizenship of all Jews
  • They were desperate and left stateless
  • Also, when war destroys homelands, houses and property,
  • They are considered alien, no longer supported by the government
