Many natives were in slavery during the triangular trade
Many countries had dictators as leaders

The lack of education and good jobs led to poverty
Roman Catholic is the main religion for Central America and Caribbean
Tourism is very important to their economy
The east Caribbean dollar is the main currency in the Caribbean
