PRESENTATION OUTLINE
Eukaryotic cell
A cell with membrane-bound structures inside the cell (includes plants, animals, fungus)
Prokaryotic cell
A cell with no membrane-bound structures inside the cell (includes bacteria)
Cell wall
Tough, rigid outer layer that protects the cell and gives it shape found in plants, algae, fungi, and most bacteria
Cell membrane
The protective layer around all cells.controls what comes in and goes out of the cell
Cytoplasm
Thick liquid inside the cell, often compared to jelly or gelatin
Organelles
Structure within the cells that carry out a job most are membrane bound
Nucleus
Directs all cell activities contains the DNA
Chloroplasts
Organelles that contains chlorophyll and is the site of photo synthesis(trapping the sun’s energy into glucose). Found in plant cells.
Mitochondria
Organelle that releases energy from glucose.
Ribosome
Found in both prokaryotes and eukaryotes, where proteins are made.
Endoplasmic reticulum (ER)
Chemicals are made and processed smooth ER makes lipids, rough ER makes proteins.
Golgi bodies
Organelle were sorting and packaging into vesicles takes place.
Vacuoles
Organelle that is storage for food, water, wastes .
One large one in plant cells ,animal cells have small ones .
Lysosomes
Organelle that contains digestive chemicals
Tissue
Similar cells grouped together to do one job
Organ
Two or more types of tissues that work together.
Organ system
A group of organs that work together Er to perform a function.
Paramecium
A single called organism.
