PRESENTATION OUTLINE

CELL CYCLE

INTERPHASE

  • Non reproducing stage of the cell
  • Most of the cells life spent here

MITOSIS

PROPHASE

  • Chromosomes become visible
  • Nucleolus and nuclear membrane disappear
  • Spindle fibers form
  • Centrioles duplicate and move to the poles

METAPHASE

  • Double stranded chromosome line up at the equator
  • Spindle fibers attach to the centromere of each chromosome

ANAPHASE

  • Spindle fibers pull apart the sister chromatids
  • One chromatid of each pair moves to opposite ends

TELOPHASE AND CYTOKINESIS

  • Spindle fibers disappear
  • Chromatid become less visible
  • Nuclear membrane and nucleolus disappear
  • Cytokinesis:
  • The cell divides and creates two new daughter cells
