CASSIA

-A STORY OF AN ANCIENT CHINESE SPICE-

Cassia is a tree or shrub that has a bark much like cinnamon. The bark is harvested to created a spice called cassia. It is surprisingly part of the pea family. It is an evergreen tree that is referred to as Chinese cinnamon.

  • Cassia was first located in many southern areas of China.
  • Cassia was first cultivated in parts of Eastern Asia.
  • Cassia is also used as an aromatic spice, meaning that if was used to present a nice smell.
