Shoot from the hip is a great way to begin shooting street photos. Practice composing your images with out looking through your camera viewfinder...then move on taking shots from hip level. Once you can do this practice from other angles

Shooting strangers can be intimidating. Don' be fearful. On the rare occasion, you are confronted, politely explain why you are taking these shots...my assignment for a project, will diffuse most people. Show them the photos...If they request you delete the shot, do it gladly....
