The state of California is having major wildfires in mountains, plateaus, valley's ranges and near the Pacific Ocean. It goes above regular temperatures in the area that the wildfires have been in and brought droughts for numerous years. There have been high winds, and extremely dry vegetation. The fire was started by a human.

CONNECTIONS

FROM WILDFIRES TO POLITICS

Geography was important in this event because a lot of ground and natural landmarks were being destroyed because the heat was burning them. Plus, if the plants and a lot of the trees were destroyed by the wildfires, then the city would not be able to get as much clean oxygen. Politics were important because they had to find out who or what caused the fire. Also, if the cause was found, then it could be stopped much more easily.

SYNTHESIZING

WHY WE SHOULD CARE

The California Wildfires are making an impact on our lives because the food prices are increasing. California is the number 1 agricultural state which means that it produces a large amount of food for the other states. And now, the price of food that comes from California is skyrocketing because of the drought that the wildfires are causing. People are losing their houses because of the fire and trees and wildlife are being destroyed. They are having to evacuate their homes so they won't get hurt. There is a major loss of plant life, so there are many predictions from a large amount of the population that there will be a lot of deserts in the future if their state.

We feel bad that much of the animals in California are getting their habitats destroyed by these raging wildfires. A lot of people have to evacuate their homes because of these wildfires. We are wondering if the fires will be getting stronger, bigger, and if people will have even more trouble containing the fires.
