GOVERNMENTS

OLIGARCHY, MONARCHY, DEMOCRACY, UNITARY, FERDERAL, CONFEDERATION, AND DICTATORSHIP.

OLIGARCHY

A small group of people having control of a country organization or institution.
An example of this would be the country Russia.

MONARCHY

  • A government where one person holds absolute power that is inherited.
  • An example would be the United Kingdom.

DEMOCRACY

  • The supreme power is vested in the people and exercised directly by them or under a free electoral system
  • An exacmple of this is Greece

UNITARY GOVERNMENT

  • Political organization with a central supreme government that holds authority and makes all decisions for local goverenements.
  • An example of this would be Cuba.

FEDERAL GOVERNMENT

  • System that divides up power between a strong national government and smaller local governments.
  • An exapmle of a Federal government is Germany.

CONFEDERATION

  • An organization that consists of several parties or groups united in an alliance.
  • An example of a conferderation is the US.

DICTATORSHIP

  • A government or a social situation where one person makes all the rules and decisions without input from anyone else.
  • An example of a dictator pship would be North Korea.

ECONOMIES

MARKET, TRADITIONAL, MIXED, AND COMMAND.

COMMAND ECONOMY

  • The the government determines what goods should be produced, how much and the price of the goods.
  • China has a command economy.

TRADITIONAL ECONOMY

  • Traditions, customs, and beliefs shape the goods and the products the society creates.
  • South India has a traditional economy

MIXED ECONOMY

  • Economic system combining private and public enterprise.
  • The United states have a mixed economy.

MARKET ECONOMY

  • People & businesses make their own decisions on what to buy and sell.
  • Government has little involvement.
  • Hong kong has a market economy.
