WHERE DOES THIS ORGANISM LIVE?

  • Dolphins live in all oceans EXCEPT the Arctic and Antarctic Oceans
  • Rivers ( Amazon of the Ganges)

UNIQUE FEATURES

  • Intellect
  • Adapted lens and cornea for excellent vision in and out of water
  • Sleek,streamlined shaped bodies are good for life in the water
  • Grey/dark grey backs & white bellies used for camouflage from predators
  • Pectoral flippers mainly used to steer & stop

ARE DOLPHINS ENDANGERED?

  • Yes, man is the biggest threat to dolphins
  • Dolphins sometimes are caught in the fisherman net
  • Pollution has caused their aquatic plants to die
  • Water pollution causes toxins which poison the dolphins
  • All these facts affect the population of dolphins

  • Their eyes are able to operate independently of each other
  • They have monosoptic (ablility to process 2 images at the same time) vision
