Bullying

What is Bullying?

  • When someone is being bullied by a person or a group of people

Types of Bullying

  • Psychological Bullying

Who is a bully?
-Boys or girls who want to dominate the less socially or physically prudent people, and believe that they are better than everyone else.

Who is the victim?
People that are of lower social stature than the bully, have health problems, are passive and like to remain isolated from others, and who are not physically “attractive” or not physically fit are all from major categories of people that are bullied.

How does bullying affect the person being bullied?

People who are constantly bullied sometimes begin to feel afraid to go to school, feel angry and upset from the stress caused by bullies, and in some cases develop health conditions.

Where does bullying happen?

At school, workplaces, sprawling public places, and even at home. Bullying can occur anywhere.

Bullying Statistics

-1/8th of all students have carried weapons to school.

-74% of all middle schools and 77% of all high schools experience violent crimes at least once in their lifetime.

-1/4th of all public school attendees have been a victim of a violent act at school or at home.

-Elementary school students are just as likely to be victims of a violent act as those in secondary schools.

-28% students believe that violence in their schools will increase.
-56% of students feel safe at school.

When does bullying become a crime?

-When physical assault becomes a factor.
-Making violent threats.
-Racial, sexual, or religious harassment.
-Making death threats.
-Child pornography.
-Extortion.
-Sexting.
-Sextortion.
-Taking photos of people where they expect to be in private.
-Making obscene harassment phone calls or texts.

How to help someone who is being bullied.

-Attempting to talk to the bully and persuade him to stop bullying his victims.
-Report any sightings of bullying to an trustworthy and responsible adult.
-Make the victim feel better by talking to him and becoming his/her friend.
-Stand up for the person being bullied, and give the victim tips on how to stand up to bullying without it escalating out of control.
