Common features of Bullying Definitions

  • Aggressive behavior that includes an "Imbalance of Power" to control or harm others
  • Repetition: "happen more than once or have the potential to happen more than once"

We need to listen to students to learn more about what approaches to bullying prevention work best or don't work well. The Youth Voice Project has done extensive research to learn from student perspectives about what happens in their schools when they follow various recommendations that they've been given.

"More than 13,000 teens in 31 schools took the Youth Voice project survey. We have now completed our book describing the results of this project and a collection of practical, research-based strategies for supporting mistreated youth, building positive bystander action, and supporting positive inclusive school cultures."
