WORLD RECORD HOLDER FOR THE LONGEST LASTING BUBBLE

  • Jeff Pastuzyn made a bubble that lasted for four minutes, 5.97 seconds using a bubble wand.

HOW WERE BUBBLES INVENTED?

  • Bubbles are no longer simply soap and water. They were invented by Taiwanese bubble solution expert Jackie Lin, the top-secret solution contains a polymer that allows bubbles to resist evaporation. The polymer reacts with air to harden three to four seconds after a bubble is blown. With little or no disturbance, the bubbles can last as long as 10 days and can be caught with dry hands without popping.

FUN FACT

  • Bubbles aren’t usually thought of as weapons, but that is exactly how the snapping shrimp uses them. They create a cavitation bubble that immediately collapses creating a shock wave that, for a moment, is nearly as hot as the sun.

Hypothesis- Glycerin, corn syrup, and body soap make the longest lasting bubble.

PROCEDURE

  • Gather materials
  • Measure ingredients
  • Mix materials
  • Put wand in the mix
  • Blow bubble
  • Set timer
  • Repeat 2x
  • Gather data

HOW MUCH??

  • 2 spoon full of soap
  • 1 spoon full of glycerin
  • 2 cups of water
  • 2 spoon full of corn syrup
  • 2 spoon full of shower gel

INDEPENDENT VARIABLE

GLYCERIN, DISH SOUP, AND CORN SYRUP

DEPENDENT VARIABLE

WATER AND CORN SYRUP

DATA

  • Our first bubble only lasted 2 seconds because we put to much water and no glycerin. Our second bubble lasted 20 seconds because we did not put as much water and used all of our materials + glycerin

RESULTS

  • Our hypothesis was correct because corn syrup, bath soap, glycerin made the longest lasting bubble.

In conclusion glycerin, corn syrup, and dish soup makes bubbles last longer than any other substance.
