WHAT MAKES UP THIS ALLOY?

  • This alloy is made up of two different elements, and in a specific percentage.
  • 88% Copper
  • 12% Tin

BRONZE IS SUBSTITUTIONAL

  • Tin and Copper are near the same size.
  • The two atoms have similar bonding characteristics.
  • The chemical properties change when they bond.

FIRST DISCOVERIES

  • One of the first places was in Bohemia.
  • It was used as early as 3500 BC!
  • It was used for tools and weapons.

WHY IS IT USEFUL?

  • Its very tough!
  • It has very low friction!
  • Its very resistant to salt water!

INTERESTING FACTS

  • It was often used in cannons due to low friction.
  • Its used in most medals.
  • Some of our money used to be made of just bronze.
