22 Mile Hike for Veterans Day 2013

In memory of US Navy SEAL Rob Guzzo
Our goal that Veterans Day was to bring awareness to the sobering statistic: 22 veterans commit suicide every day, most commonly due to the effects of post traumatic stress and/or traumatic brain injuries.

We also honored US Navy SEAL Robert Guzzo who died November 11, 2012, on Veterans Day. Rob's story sadly, is not uncommon and represents one of the hardest battle our warriors face.

We began the movement at Lakeview Park in Nampa, ID at 0700 and hiked to the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boise, ID.

Supporting the families of Extortion-17
Providing a service for families of those involved in the shoot down of Extortion-17. We are honored to be serving Mrs. Tabitha Brown, the surviving spouse of US Air Force Special Operations Command Pararescuman John Brown.

On 6 August 2011, a U.S. Boeing CH-47 Chinook military helicopter, call sign Extortion 17, was shot down while transporting a quick reaction force attempting to reinforce an engaged unit of Army Rangers in Wardak province, west of Kabul, Afghanistan. The resulting crash killed all 38 people on board—25 American special operations personnel, five United States Army National Guard and Army Reserve crewmen, seven Afghan commandos, and one Afghan interpreter—as well as a U.S. military working dog. It is considered the worst loss of U.S Military life in a single incident in the Afghanistan campaign, surpassing Operation Red Wings in 2005 (Note: during Operation Red Wings, on 28 June 2005, a Chinook helicopter carrying a U.S. Navy SEAL team was shot down by a RPG round as it attempted to extract U.S. troops on the ground).

The deaths included:

15 U.S. Navy SEALs from the Naval Special Warfare Development Group's Gold Squadron (SEAL Team Six)

7 Afghan National Army Commandos, part of Afghan National Army

5 U.S. Naval Special Warfare support personnel

3 U.S. Army Reserve personnel from the 7th Battalion, 158th Aviation Regiment

2 U.S. Navy SEALs from a west coast based SEAL team

2 U.S. Army personnel from the 2nd Battalion, 135th Aviation Regiment, part of Colorado Army National Guard

2 U.S. Air Force Pararescuemen from the 24th Special Tactics Squadron

1 U.S. Air Force Combat Controller from the 24th Special Tactics Squadron

1 Afghan civilian interpreter

1 U.S. Military Working Dog

The 30 American deaths represent the greatest loss of U.S. military lives in a single incident in the decade-long war in Afghanistan that began in 2001

Never forget August 6th 2011.

Private screening of Lone Survivor

With former US Navy SEAL Jason Redman and Gold Star Mother Debbie Lee
The Warfighter Foundation hosted a private screening of the film Lone Survivor in Houston, TX on December 17th 2013. The event was conducted to show support and appreciation for our combat veterans, their families, and to honor the men of Operation Red Wings.

This event would not have been possible if it was not for the friends and families of US Navy SEAL Lt. Michael Murphy, US Navy SEAL GM2 Danny Dietz, and US Navy SEAL ST2 Matt Axelson.

The event included special messages from Patsy Dietz, Dan Murphy, and Jeff Axelson. The event also included guest speakers John Melia, Jason Redman, and Debbie Lee.

Note: This event was only open to Veterans, Active Duty Service Members, and Blue/Gold Star Families. It was 100% free.

Second ANnual 100 Mile Hike

In memory of Operation Red Wings
Nn May 22nd conducted a 100 Mile Hike to the Fort Bend County Fairgrounds Rosenberg, TX leading up to the 5th Annual U.S. Navy SEAL Danny Dietz Memorial Team Roping event. We worked with the U.S. Navy SEAL Danny Dietz Memorial Team Roping event to provide as much support as possible!

This event was a way to pay tribute to our fallen service members and to raise awareness of what Memorial Day is truly about. We ended in Rosenberg, TX to pay tribute to the men of Operation Red Wings and all of our fallen warriors.

On June 28, 2005 four U.S. Navy SEALs conducting a reconnaissance for the opening phases of Operation Red Wings in Afghanistan, came under fire ultimately taking three of the four men's lives. Additionally, eight U.S. Navy SEALs and eight U.S. Army Night Stalkers, attempting to reinforce the SEAL recon team, lost their lives when their helicopter (Turbine-33) was shot down. This event was recently portrayed in the movie Lone Survivor.
