Suspension Bridge- A bridge having the roadway suspended from cables that are anchored at either end and usually supported at intervals by towers.

HISTORY OF THE GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE

  • Was the only practical way of getting cars across the water.
  • Designed by Joseph Strauss, Irving Marrow and Charles Alton Ellis.
  • Construction started January 5, 1933.
  • The bridge was open to the public on May 28, 1937.
