BRAVE NEW WORLD BY, ALDOUS HUXLEY

PRESENTATION BY, JACK ACHE

EXPLANATION

  • people are grown, there are no families, and sex and drug use is common place. Everyone is broken up into castes and people are conditioned with hypnopaedics.
  • Bernard Marx is in love with Lenina crowne.
  • They go to a savage reservation and find John the savage who they bring back with them. John is challenged by this brave new world.

PERSONAL REVIEW

  • I really liked the book and recommend it to anyone who likes dystopian novels or Shakespeare.

SIGNIFICANCE OF TITLE

  • Brave new world is a quote from Shakespeare's Tempest.
  • John the savage has grown up reading Shakespeare and quotes him through most of the book and uses this quote.

CREATIVE PROJECT

  • For my creative project I made a movie trailer.
  • I chose this to show off images and summarize the plot for everyone.

CONTROVERSIAL ISSUES

  • Sex, drug use, and cloning of humans.
  • The lack of individualism.

ANALYSIS OF MAIN CHARACTER

  • John the savage is the son of the director and Linda.
  • This is very scandalous so he is left at the savage reservation.
  • When he comes to the world state he is appalled.
  • Also he must overcome his sexual desire for lenina.

TRUTH ABOUT HUMAN NATURE

  • As humans we want someone else to be in control and make decisions for us.
  • However we will always resist the stripping away of our individual freedoms.
  • People will find distractions to take them away from a miserable reality.
