BONY FISH

BONY FISH

  • Bony fishes can be found in most freshwater and saltwater habitats.
  • 20,000 bony fish called Osteichthyes.
  • All fish have fins shows fin fusion and reduction.
  • Species of bony fish are covered by scales.
Mucus is used to protect from infection.

GOLDFISH

  • Adapted to cold and warm temperatures able to survive.
  • Has high glycogen stores in brain and liver, is strategic.
  • Has meta- bolic rate depression to digest quickly.
This tolerance is conveyed by high glycogen stores in brain and liver, increased buffering capacities, meta- bolic rate depression and the ability to convert the lactate produced by anaerobic glycolysis into ethanol, which is excreted via the gill.

LIONFISH

  • Has venom glands that is used to defend.
  • Adapt to temperatures, adapt to different environment.
  • Has red and white colors to blend in the coral reef, remain motionless.

CATFISH

  • A catfish is different from other fish because of their smooth, scaleless bodies.
  • Catfish have a good sense of smell and taste,the barbels are around their mouth with the job of helping locate food.
  • They have taste buds all over the body.
  • Catfish weigh between 2-7 pounds and measure 12 to 24 inches long.

FUN FACTS

  • Goldfish are suitable for both ponds and home aquariums.
  • Nicknames for some other species of lionfish include the feathery, the fu-manchu and dwarf.
  • Over 1000 species of fish are going extinct.
  • The channel catfish is the official fish of Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, and Tennessee.
