MORNING OF BLOODY SUNDAY

  • I.R.A launch’s attacks across Dublin.going to the homes of British agents and spies .killing 14 British spies and agents.10:00-11:00
  • The killings reach the administer. Plans are set.
  • To attack at the Dub vs Tipp match.14 civilians were killed in the shooting.

The Crush Of Croke Park

While the British where firing into the stands there was a crush .
Everyone wanted to get out but they would shoot Anyone who tried to get out.during the crush there was two fatalities.

JAMES TEEHAN WAS 26 AT THE TIME AND DIED SHORTLY AFTER BECAUSE OF HEART FAILURE

  • When the I.R.A where targeting British intelligence officers one of the I.R.A agents apart of the 12 Apostles.The agent destroyed the list that held all the names of the targets.
  • Before the R.I.C could get the list.

SPORTS VS POLITICS

  • G.A.A didn’t want to be involved In politics. G.A.A thought that the English would ban GAA again that’s why they couldn’t cancel the dub vs tipp match.
  • Other reasons because of over flow of people.over 15,000 people.

It was highly anticipated and 15,000 Gaelic fans wanted to see the Dublin vs Tipperary match.

This is a picture of Croke Park just before spectators flooded in to watch Dublin vs Tipperary

Tipperary won their first provincial title in 85 years. They wore the same jerseys as the tipp players did in 1920.

  • He had an older brother who was three and his dad was an agricultural laborer.
