What is Blended Learning?

  • Utilization of BOTH Tech Tools & Face-to-Face Instruction
  • Increases Personalization of Learning
  • Maximizes Instructional Time
Fulton County sees personalization as the future of the classroom. This means each child will be able to personalize their learning path, pace, places and people. In order to do that, we have to make use of both tech tools and face-to-face instruction. Tech tools allow teachers and students to get instant feedback about their mastery of standards. Instruction can therefore be customized to student needs; maximizing the value of instructional time for all students.

What is PBL?

  • Project-Based Learning
  • Authentic, Rigorous, Content-Based, Public Products
  • Technology assists with this process in making connections, conducting research, etc.
At Crabapple, we have chosen PBL as our path toward personalization. This means that our teachers are working to create projects that make learning the content authentic and choice-driven for students. Having a public product increases student accountability for their learning and polishes 21st century skills. Technology assists us with this process by allowing students to make connections with experts, conduct research, and make products that would otherwise be impossible.

What Does the Classroom Look Like...

  • Teacher=Facilitator
  • Stations
  • Group & Individual Tasks
Rather than being a "sage on a stage" talking at kids teachers must guide students in their learning opportunities. While lecturing giving validation to the speaker, students do not necessarily take away from it what we would like for them to.
