BLACK LUNG

  • A disease that is cause by breathing in too much coal dust
  • During the industrial revolution thousand of workers got this disease from coal mines

WHAT HAPPENS TO YOU?

  • The outer covering of your air sacs get destroyed.
  • Also, your lungs will harden from scars you get.

TYPES OF BLACK LUNG DISEASE

  • There are two types, simple and complicated.
  • Complicated only effects about 2% of people who have simple.
  • Complicated causes your lungs to have scars.
  • It is very easy to die from complicated lung disease.

SYMPTOMS

  • You may not have any symptoms when you first get it
  • Later you may walk funny and have a hard time breathing

HOW DO I KNOW I HAVE IT?

  • A physician can take a X-ray of your chest
  • They also might give you a breathing test

LUNG DISEASE TREATMENT

  • Don't get in contact with dust.
  • Don't smoke
  • Also, get oxygen therapy if disease is really bad

SOURCES OF EXPOSURE

  • Underground coal mines
  • Preparation of coal for transport
  • Transporting coal
