Anencephaly is

A DEFECT IN BRAIN DEVELOPMENT RESULTING IN SMALL OR MISSING BRAIN HEMISPHERES

CAUSES:

  • NTD which is a neural tube defect
  • They are born missing the cerebrum and cerebellum
  • Causes nervous tissue to break down
  • The developing brain and spinal cord are exposed to amniotic fluid
  • Bones of the skull are missing or improperly formed
4.

TREATMENTS

  • There is no current treatment
  • If you get enough folic acid it can reduce the chance of birth defects
5.

PREVENTION:

  • Get enough folic acid
  • Proper nutrition
  • Avoid environmental hazards as often as possible
  • Avoid drugs
  • Don't drink or smoke
