rainforest birds

and migration 

tropical rainforests are homes to many kinds of birds including parrots, toucans and raptors like eagles, hawks and vultures.

a few migratory birds live in rain forests during the cold winter and return to cooler places during spring and the summer.

females and males macaws are extremely difficult to tell apart. Both female and male are up to 30 inches long including tail feathers.

Cockatoos are known for there fancy big crest feathers that they display on top of there heads. Did you know all cockatoo species are from Australia. Cockatoos become depressed if there owners don't show them enough affection.

north american birds

eagles are large and fierce birds of prey. Eagles have large , hooked beaks. they also have very amazing eyesight. There are over 60 types of eagles.

robins are helpless at birth but reach the size of their parents in 2 weeks. Robins have about 2,900 feathers

blue jays are natural forest dwellers. they are also highly adaptive birds. they are highly intelligent birds. they are common in the eastern and central North America.

antarctic  birds

as soon as a penguin egg is laid the female dashes out for a meal. Which leaves the male to watch the nest. The parents will eventually learn to recognize the babies voice .

albatrosses are among the biggest flying bird, they have the largest wing span of many extinct birds. There are 21 species world wide and five species that live in antarctica.

Sheathbills are the scavengers of the antarctic regions. They have a white plumage, and look plump like doves. There are 2 species 1 which occurs in antarctica.

the Takahe bird has feathers but can't fly. These birds live about 20 years which is a long time for a bird. This bird has been around for about 8 million years. The Takahe bird lays 2 eggs but only one chick survives.

this is an example ostrich. Ostriches can't fly. They are also the largest bird in the world. Ostriches are Native to Africa. They are the only non flying member to the genus Struthio.

A small island in New Zealand is home to a small bird called Kiwis. They have wings but there so small birds that they can't fly. Because they can't fly they are easily hunted by dogs, cats and.

Kakapos birds can't fly but oddly climb trees these birds can't fly. There are only 131 of these birds left in the world. Kakapos live to be 60 years old. Interestingly these parrots are moss green.
