Birds of Kapit island 4 awesome birds.

Takahe

  • The Takahe live in the Murchison Mountains in Fiordland.
  • They were thought of as extinct before being re-discovered
  • The Takahe have Purple,Blue,Greenish,Red and pink for it's colour.
  • A unusual thing about a Takahe is that they don't fly because they are endangered.
  • Mr Orbell found a group of Takahe in the mountains in 1948.

Fantail.

  • The Maori name for the Fantail is Piwakawaka.
  • Fantails Originally live in native forests and gardens.
  • Fantails eat Moths,Flies,Beetles and spiders.
  • Fantails colours and features are pied and melanistic or black. The pied birds are grey-brown with white and black bands.
  • An unusual thing about a Fantail is there tail opens into a fan.

Kaka

  • The Kaka are found in native forests in New Zealand.
  • The main food for the Kaka are fruits,buds,berries,seed,flower,nectar and sap.
  • The Kaka's colour and features are Olive-brown,Grey,White,bright Red-Orange crimson.
  • An unusual thing about a Kaka the Kaka is a parrot belonging to the nestorinae family.
  • Kaka sort of look like kea.
