HOW IT WORKS

  • Biomass is composed of multiple things. These include dead trees, tree branches, yard clippings, leftover crops, and wood chips.
  • All of these and more are brought to a processing plant where they are burned. The heat then cause water to boil then causing steam to turn gears to make electricity.
  • Biomass can also be mixed with other things to make biofuel which is able to power cars and more.

USES

  • The energy itself can be used to power things like any other electricity. It can be used to power homes and more.
  • Biofuel however can be used for heating and to power cars. It acts as oil but it doesn't deplete the natural source of it.
  • Currently Biomass and Biofuel are being used to produce electricity and act as oil for cars.

ENVIROMENT

  • When burning biomass it can release methane gasses which contribute to global warming.
  • Using biomass helps reducing landfills and more.
  • Biomass is becoming more widely accepted. This is do to the fact that we are growing a need for alternative energy sources.

POSITIVES AND NEGATIVES

  • A positive is that it's a source of energy.
  • A positive is that it's an abundant and renewable resource.
  • A positive is that it reduce landfills and waste.
  • A negative is that it's inefficient compared to fossil fuels.
  • A negative is that it release methane which is harmful to the ozone.
  • A negative is that it's a very expensive process.
