WHAT DOES BIOLUMINESCENCE MEAN?

• "It is the PRODUCTION AND EMMISSSION OF LIGHT BY A LIVING ORGANISM."
• It means that the organsims create their own natural light

HOW IS THE LIGHT CREATED?

• the organisms use chemical compounds called luminescence
• this chemical compound is called an enzyme-catalyzed reaction

WHERE DO THESE ORGANISMS LIVE?

• 90% of these organisms live on the bottom of the sea

WHY DO THEY USE BIOLUMINESCENCE?

• They use this to capture animals
• They use this to communicate with other fish

WHERE IS THE LIGHT FORMED?

• It is formed inside of the organsim

WHAT COLOR IS THE LIGHT THAT THEY PRODUCE?

• The colors can be blue or green
• Loose jawfish can only produce red

WHAT ARE SOME EXAMPLES OF BIOLUMINESCENCE CREATURES?

• If you ever met a firefly, you have seen a bioluminescence creature

WHY DO SCIENTIST STUDY THESE ORGANISMS?

• They study these organisms to find more ways to produce light without created a lot of heat

I chose this subject because I love to study science and because these creatures are very hard to find and not a lot of people know about them.
