• The Inebriate Asylum was built 156 years ago  
• It was built in 1858
• It was open during the civil war 

life in the asylum

• The I.A. treated their patients better than other asylums
• The patients were treated like students
• Nurses were a lot nicer 

site

• There is 250 acres on that whole property
• There is a total of 8-10 buildings on the land
• They grew their own food
• There is also a cemetary

the inebriate asylum today

• upstate medical wants to use the landmark and make it a medical univesity
