PRESENTATION OUTLINE

BING CROSBY

BY Samantha Beaudet & Jacob Robbins

Background
Harry Lillis "Bing" Crosby, Jr., born May 3, 1903, was a famous song writer and singer, having a career that spanned both himself and other artists, such as the "rhythm boys" and the "Andrew Sisters."

Having a fantastic voice and a large variety of song genres, Bing Crosby had gained fame and recognition through the new gramophones and radio. Selling records and gaining a reputation would help him stay on the radio in the 30s.

Starting the 1930s with a line of new songs, he had begun to ramp up his production and really hit his stride in the 1940s. One such song of his from the 1930s was "Stardust" (see link) https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Om-RktUG5kk

Bing Crosby had also been hit by the Great Depression, but due to his newly found fame he was able to stay above bankruptcy and still get songs through the radio, helping thousands through the trying times with new music.

Opinions
Jacob- I believe that Bing Crosby was one of the greatest singers of his time. With songs during the 40s that helped ease the mood of the war and that are still listened to today, there are few artists that have had an impact on music before the second British Invasion like Bing Crosby.
