PRESENTATION OUTLINE
The writing in the article is informal, the writer Jason Lipshutz talks about what the lead singer is wearing. Painting a picture for the audience to set the scene. He then goes on to talk about the bands journey from the bottom to the top. They discuss what their label has down to raise publicity and how they were first discovered. Then Lipshutz talks about how the band has grown throughout their career. Even thought I think that this is an informal acticle, I feel that the audience dont get to know the band on a personal level. Talking about their success so much holds up a barrier from getting know know the men behind the music. I feel for my music magazine, in my double page spread I will try and make a point that my artist engages the audience in the article. Not just though the images and cover lines.
Having the figure '600.000' in large bold letters at the side of the page makes it stand out compared to the rest of the writing. It also empathizes that this band has definitely broke out with a bang. I would like my artist to be upcoming with a lot of potential. Going in the same direction as Mumford and Sons.
The photos at the left side take up the first two pages, with a small bit of text on the second page. The images on the double page take up more than three quarters of the page. They have a different colour adjustment on each of the four images which makes them more engaging for the audience. The four images are of the four band members, letting the audience get a personal association of each one.
The images are all equal in size, indicating that the members all have an equal part in the making of the band. The colours used match the rest of the article and the house style of the magazine. However the colours aren't block colours, they are more of a faded red, yellow, green etc.
There are two images on the third page of the feature. The first one is in between two coloums in the middle of the page. It is of fans of the band clearly at a gig. The fans are holding up a sign that was hand made. This shows the bands support and also catches a few laughs with the word 'sassy' in red. This also lets us know that their audience is most likely female.
There are a number of Drop caps in this article. On the last page they occur twice drawing the audiences attention to those two points in the article. Having four colums per page helps the audience break the text down and to not lose interest in the article.
The layout of this article is organised and follows The Golden Section were the audiences eyes are attracted to the bottom left hand side then goes around is a circle going into the middle of the page. I would like this theory to be taken into account when I am designing the layout of my page.
