BIGFOOT

DESCRIPTION

  • large hairy ape-like man
  • Usually has a height ranging around 6 1/2 to 7 feet tall
  • Bigfoot weighs in excess of 500 pounds
  • Has been reported to have a horrible smell
  • Footprints recorded have gotten up to 24 inches long and 8 inches wide

WHERE IT LIVES

  • Based on most sightings, bigfoot seems to bee common around the specific northwest region in the United States
  • There has also been many sightings in the east
  • Bigfoot seems to prefer heavily wooded areas with decent amount of annual rainfall

SOME SIGHTING REPORTS

  • He started towards the tree to see what was causing it when he saw a huge figure that was dark in color, he shot towards it to scare it away
  • The man described it with a bad stench, about 8 feet tall and as wide as a gas pump.

GIGANTOPITHECUS

  • Some scientists say that Bigfoot could be a relict population of gigantopithecis
  • Even though all of the gigantopithecus fossils were found in Asia there is a possibility that this animal species could have migrated across the Bering land bridge as others did
  • A gigantopithecus is a type of ape that became extinct about
  • They existed roughly nine million years up to as recent as one hundred thousand years ago
  • The first remains of this animal were found in 1935

  • They stood about 10 ft. tall and weighed as much as 1,200 pounds.
  • The first remain discovered of this animal was a molar in a Hong Kong pharmacy by Ralph von Koenigswald
  • After he found more teeth mixed with middle-Pleistocene elephant and panda fossils he estimated their age at 125,000 to 700,000 years.
