Phonemic Awareness

  • This is a type of Phonological awareness, being able to notice and use the smalles individual sounds in words and understanding how they work.

Phonics

  • This is teaching students how to recognize the relationship between the individual sounds of speaking and the etters of written words

Fluency

  • This is teaching students how to read words correctly and at a reasonable pace.

Vocabulary

  • 4 different types: listening, writing, speaking, and readin
  • This is important for students to know to help them actually understand what it is they are feading

Text Comprehension

  • This is “the reason for reading”
  • It is why we read, to understand ideas and themes, and so o

Fluency

  • How quickly and correctlya student can read
  • Ways to help students become more fluent readers include: student-adult reading, choral reading, tape assisted reading, partner reading, and readers’ theatr
  • Each allow students to read aloud, but practice at the same time
