BASICS ABOUT BERNARDO

  • Lifespan: 1746-1786 (40 years young).
  • Governor of the Spanish colony of Louisiana.
  • Patriot.
  • Born in Spain.
  • He chose a military career like his family did.

HIS PART IN THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION

  • He was helping the patriots even before Spain entered the war.
  • He kept British supplies and armies out of the Mississippi River.
  • He gave the U.S Army supplies.

HIS PART IN THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION

  • He prepared series of attacks on some British forts in West Florida.
  • But while gathering supplies a hurricane destroyed his ships, so they attacked by land driving the British further away.
  • While preparing for another attack, another hurricane stroke.
  • He joined forces with another fleet and he lead a victory.
  • Because of him, the British couldn't attack the Patriots from the south or west.

HIS DEATH

  • He died of an unknown illness.
  • Soon after his now widowed wife gave birth to a girl. 😔
