  • Born on January 17,1706
  • He taught himself how to read French, Spanish,Latin, and Italian
  • When he was 15 he became an apprentice printer
  • Married to Deborah Read Rogers in 1730

  • He established the colonies' first circulatory library for citizens
  • Also organized the first insurance company in the colonies
